Ahhh, kickin' back. Had a frosty brew, watching some "Monty Python's Flying Circus" (the Lumberjack skit is going now. Beautiful.) Speaking of television, I don't watch the late-night talk shows, like, ever, but tonight I caught (for some freakish reason) Paris Hilton on Letterman. You know how some people can win you over in unscripted appearances more than in their actual films/shows/etc? Yeah, I officially hate Paris Hilton even more deeply. It's bad enough being a one-trick pony, but Paris is a no-trick pony. A no-trick pony that's been ridden many times... on video... that have been distributed online... so, I guess if we change the definition of "trick" to something more, shall we say, more "urban" she might qualify. And last night I had the poor fortune of running across Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" video. Why is that song listened to by anyone? It's not about anything. It's not good music. It sure as hell ain't good hip-hop. It's Gwen pimping her ass out to gawking teenage boys. Which would be novel if it weren't for every other female pop act doing the same damn thing.
If you have shares in Western Civilization (specifically American varieties...) sell now, cuz baby, that stock is starting to look like it's about to crash.
Oh look, "Mama's Family" is on. Nevermind the stock advice. This is 1932 in the culture market and "Mama's Family" would have been late '29. Where's our New Deal?
